There's a dynamo in Brazil that's powered by Stolle - and his name is Arnaldo Costa. As the General Manager of Stolle do Brasil, he kicked off 2010 by supervising the move into a new, larger manufacturing and service center 3 miles south of their previous location in Indaiatuba. And even while this was happening, Arnaldo was still assisting customers and helping to organize the recent StolleTech Latin America technical symposium that was held in nearby Campinas in mid-April. According to Arnaldo, “Yes, it’s been a hectic year, but everything has gone very smoothly for the most part. Our beautiful new facility has exceeded everyone’s expectations, and the symposium was a wonderful success for Stolle and our Latin American customers.”
In February, Stolle Brazil moved from three separate rented buildings in Indaiatuba to create a single 24,000 sq ft manufacturing center of excellence in a nearby industrial park. The spacious building houses Stolle Brazil’s management offices, a fully-equipped machine shop, an electronics lab, a climate-controlled quality control lab, a large machine assembly and rebuild area, and warehouse space for spare parts and machine components. “This new building allowed us to consolidate all of our services under one roof and still have some room for future expansion,” says Arnaldo.

The new machine shop is managed by Adilcimar Gomes and is equipped with the latest machining centers and tools to make spare parts at a competitive price for the local market, and the QC lab is equipped to inspect the parts at the highest level of precision demanded by canmakers. The electronics lab is managed by Geraldo Teixeira and is set up to build machine control systems, perform start-ups, to do gauging set ups and calibration, etc. The large, open assembly area allows the Stolle Brasil team lead by Adilcimar and Geraldo to build inside spray machines, light testers, end compound liners, decorator inkers, as well as rebuild subassemblies such as inkers, overvarnish units, trimmers, bodymaker components, and more.
In addition, the warehouse managed by Luiz Trova houses apx. $3.5 million in spare parts to support local customers, including quick delivery kits, emergency items and long lead-time parts. In addition to parts and service for Stolle machines, Stolle do Brasil also stocks parts for and services equipment from Belvac and Sencon, including their neckers and light testers.

A Stolle team of 50 professionals is working out of the new facility, including manufacturing, administration, shipping and support staff. Stolle rapid response technicians are based in Indaiatuba as well as at a separate Stolle response center in Manaus, Amazônia located near two key customers’ plants.
External recognition will soon be earned by the new Stolle Brazil center when they get their ISO 9001 certification in July of this year. “ISO 9001 is already being used as a management and standardization tool for our operation, and this accomplishment will cap off all of our hard work in Brazil – we will soon join the other Stolle facilities in the USA as ISO 9001 certified,” says Arnaldo.
Gus Reall, President of Stolle CMD, says “We’re excited to be able to provide our Latin American customers with a new level of support through this world-class facility. We feel that that new Indaiatuba center will augment our on-going program of providing not only the best machinery, but the best service to every global customer we have. Arnaldo and his entire Brazilian team are very hard workers... people that will not accept anything less than complete customer satisfaction and the highest quality products. Their dedication is invaluable and will allow us to continue to increase our support to our valued Latin American customer base.”
